General Section
The General Section of Government Polytechnic, Dharmavaram, is an integral part of this institution since its inception. It is strongly committed to providing a challenging education in core subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Its motto is to impart knowledge not only to face their course examinations but also stimulate them to pursue real knowledge besides fostering their Communication and Soft Skills in English.
The Department strives rigorously towards shaping the students competent enough to get a job and to acquire all the essential employability skills.
The Department is well established with Chemistry, Physics, and English Language Laboratories that make the learners acquire presentation skills besides gaining practical knowledge through various experiments.

Chemistry Laboratory: The laboratory is equipped with the required chemicals and instruments to conduct the experiments as per the curriculum.
Physics Laboratory: The laboratory contains equipment like Vernier Calipers, Travelling Microscope, Screw gauge, Simple pendulum, and other which are helpful to conduct practicals.
English Language Laboratory: The English Language lab is well furnished with audio-visual aids such as Computers with Internet facility, headphones that assist the learners to improve the Listening Skills, Speaking Skills, and the Presentation Skills.

- Conducting academic activities during Janmabhoomi and other government programmes
Extra-Curricular Activities:
- Encourages the students to participate in State, Zonal, and Districts Level Events.
- Participated in Elocution at Zonal Level Youth Festival 2018
- Motivated the students to compete at National Level Essay Writing Competition organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission during 2017 and 2018
- Commemorates the Birth/Death days of Erudite Personalities at regular intervals
